The Music

On the drive to the neighborhood pool at age 8, I was singing loud and full in the woody station wagon. My friend said, “Do you want to be a singer?” I hadn’t considered it, but it seemed an obvious thing: “Yes. Yes.” And so I’ve sung.

The process has broadened from singing to include songwriting. And songwriting has become one of the greatest joys of my life as a follower of Christ: Songwriting is a way I make—co-create—with God. I’ve done it hundreds of times now, but, each time, I gobble the feast of surprise, delight and active collaboration with God.
